Varied Voice
For one thing,Suranjana Bose does not attempt Rabindrasangeet on a public platform.Which, she says, does not mean that she is not haunted by the Tagorean music. That is part of her musical passion that is more concentrated on the development of Nazrulgeeti, Thumri, kheyal, ragprodhan and bhajans- a wide choice that does credit to any solo recital.

Appealing recital
The following vocalist Suranjana Basu has a rich voice. Her Khayal in Bageshri Vilambit was well-contemplated and appealing. The drut ektal tarana part was better performed than the teental bandish. A student of Patiala gharana, Basu has a very mature approach to thumri, which transpired in her demonstration based on raga Khamaj.

Review Album

A disciple of Sukumar Mitra, Suranjana Basu shows every sign of maturing into an accomplished artiste. She possesses a fairly good vocal modulation and a pleasant style of rendition.
What is laudable is that her style is devoid of certain mannerisms that occasionally accompany commercial rendition, specially Nazrulgeeti. She has successfully kept aside these unnecessary ornamentations at a time when some established singers too like liberty with Najrul songs.

This collection has a lot of variety; it includes numbers like Phire gechho shoi and Hey priyo aamaare dibo na bhulite as well as the devotional , Shyama naamer laglo agun. Each and every number bears the stamp of her long years of practice. Such sincerity, specially among the newcomers, is rare.Tejendranarayan Majumdar's music arrangement also contributes to the album's success.
